Plug in: where to get indigenous vegetable seeds and seedlings locally

Indigenous vegetables have been trumpeted as a big opportunity for farmers, growing well, surviving pests, and drawing urban buyers, but, close-up, studies suggest a road block, with 363 farmers in Kisii and Kakamega found growing the vegetables far less in 2022 and 2023 than they were from 2016 to 2017.
A real barrier is getting the seed and planting materials. Simla now offers seeds for the most popular, including African nightshade (Managu), Amaranth (Terere / Dodo), Spider plant (Saga), and Jute mallow (Mrenda), but local suppliers are hard to track down. Moreover, farmers increasingly prefer seedlings to seeds and the risks of low germination.
FarmBizAfrica has searched farmers groups across FaceBook and WhatsApp for marketing by local suppliers to start this directory of local indigenous seed and seedlings suppliers.
