George Muturi, a vermiculture farmer based in Kiambu County, is rearing earthworms to make organic fertilizers that raises crop yields by 50 per cent.Before using the organic fertilizer he was harvesting 80 to 100 kgs of vegetables, where now he gets up to 150 kilograms from the same area. He also uses the earthworms to feed his chickens.
